Cross is a strong lad, born to simple folk. He knows not why so many wealthy freemen ask what his last name is, as if he would have one, but is flattered. Cross rarely appears to take things seriously, as far as can be told from the outside, but that might just be an act. He certainly has a strong sense of duty and pride. He's an easy-going quiet type, and likes to have a good time.
Both his father, Phyleus, and mother, Yvana, worked for a blacksmith, but the noise and heat seemed unbearable to a young man with dreams of adventure and glory. Fortunately, Cross found adventure when he was called to arms for a brief but victorious campaign for the Barony of Warwick. The independence from home and sense of importance led Cross to join the Guard, where he quickly became nobody for several years.
Recently, Cross left the services of Warwick and travelled to Tyrangel with his close friend Raven de Danaan, the brother of a (former) Marenthan Squire. Cross and Raven met Tiger there and soon joined the Baronial Guard of Marentha, swearing fealty to (then) Baroness Rosalind Frederick.
Cross had always been fascinated by celestial magic, and with the teachings of Drew Kirin and various Marenthan nobles, he has finally learned to use it effectively, particularly binding magic. Raven and Cross have both advanced to the rank of Sergeant through deed and devotion.
