Gallyamath Forest
The Gallyamath Forest is the
largest heavily wooded area in the County. It is inhabited by several
tribes of gnolls. During the Sutherland War, these gnoll tribes allied with
the Army of the South against the Sessuar. After the end of the war,
relations with the gnolls became strained. Their capture and rumored
Obliteration of Dame Amaris' brother and steward, Jeris, led to an
all out war. The gnolls recruited bandits from all over Southwatch, and
marched on Tyrangel. Their ranks swelled to over 7000 troops, dwarfing
the army raised by Baron Bane almost 3 to 1.
The combined forces of
Tyrangel
harried the gnolls every step of the way. Casualities were high on both
sides, but in the end, a much weakened gnollish force reached the capital
city. The gnolls dug in and prepared for a long battle. They did not,
however, plan for the skills of the Tyrangel Irregulars (the townspeople).
The gnolls were beaten decisively in 2 major battles. Of the 4000 gnolls
that leftt the Gallyamath, only 200 returned home.
We of Marentha would like to
offer our heartfelt thanks to those who fought and died against the
gnolls.
