Excerpt from the February 598 issue of the Tyrangel Times.

Founded in the winter of 596 by Dame Amaris Baeyear, Guildmistress Phyrra Tenshi, and Dame Crick, this roving band of do-gooders patrols most of the County. However, most of its members neither carry a weapon, nor know how to use one.

In the winter of 596, Dame Crick and Dame Amaris began making rounds of the small, outlying villages and farmsteads. Guildmistress Phyrra joined the two young women soon after. From her came the idea to recruit members of Count Daleron’s household staff to extend the patrols. Because these new recruits wore their livery, with the Count's family symbol the hawk, on the breast, they became known as "Hawk's Healers."

Now, years after their founding, the Hawk’s Healers have expanded with the Dutchy. Bands can be found patrolling near the Dutchy seat and in the barony of Marentha. The only difference visible are the sponsoring colors. Dutchy Healers wear black and green, Marenthan healers sport red and black, and more recent, patrols in the area of Zanor have been seen in blue and silver. The hawk for which they were named is the only constant.

The name, Hawk’s Healers, is slightly misleading. Knowledge of earth magic is not a requirement. Hawk’s Healers are more concerned with the mundane threats that face the commons of Tyrangel. It is not uncommon to find Dame Amaris chopping wood or hauling water. Guildmistress Phyrra might be seen tending an ailing child. Dame Crick has proven herself to be quite a hand at hunting down wild animals that threaten farmsteads.

In all, the presence of this band, and that they thrive, is a tribute to the Dutchy’s dedication to the well-being of those upon which the nobility depend.
