The Fief of Karasta
Named for the village where I was
born on the southern shores of
Lake Ardynn in Volta, Karasta is my fief in the barony of Marentha.
Located on the northern border, I chose these lands among those offered to
me as this is the most vulnerable point in Marentha.
There's not a whole lot here right
now - a few scattered villages here and
there. Most of the peasants here make a living at farming, which is just
as well. I know farming. I actually like it. I haven't done enough
exploring yet to get a good grasp on the sorts of crops that are
prevalent here, but I'm hoping that we'll soon be able to set up some
trade down the river with Manath.
My current project is building a keep
on the river at the border. I've
just begun work, though, on the design and hiring of competant people, so
don't expect any building to have begun. I'm living in a hastily built
shack that I need to improve a little before winter sets in, but in many
ways, I'm more comfortable here than I am in the large castles and keeps
that I've visited over the years. After all, this shack is mine on my own
lands. It makes all the difference.
