Well, I suppose that as Raven's older brother, it's my responsibility to write something about him - at least until he decides to write something about himself to go here.
It had been nearly seven years since last I saw my little brother when he walked into Tyrangel. The last thing I expected during the September Market Gathering this year was to see Raven walk into town with his friend, Cross. For a moment or two I didn't even recognize him. He was only nineteen the last I saw him, and the intervening time had been very good to him. Gone was the last remnants of childhood from both his appearance and his bearing. This is only natural, I suppose, considering that he spent the last seven years working as a courier for the Baronial Guard of Warwyck.
He and I spent many hours over the next day and a half talking; mostly we spoke of the remainder of our family and what Raven was doing in Tyrangel. We spent a great deal of the time discussing the Barony, and Baroness, that I serve. Raven surprised me by expressing his desire to swear fealty to my Liege after only having known her for a few hours. (I must confess that I fully expected him to wish to swear fealty to the Baroness, I just hadn't expected him to do so quite so rapidly.) After swearing his fealty, he further honored me by asking to join the Baronial Guard.
After only two months, his excellent judgement, quick decision-making capabilities, leadership potential, and all around competence, impressed my Liege, and others both within Marentha and elsewhere in the Duchy, such that she promoted Raven to the rank of Sergeant. He has performed better than I could have hoped, and expected in this capacity; I have no doubt that my dear brother has incredible things in his future.
Raven is much more than a military man and healer, but I'll leave that to him to tell you about. If he's up to the challenge, that is.
