The Care and Feeding of a Skr’ckv’lde Tc’i’ka Gikkala

Translator’s Note: This book was translated as best as possible. Some of the worlds I have been yet unable to decipher and have copied them here in their original form in hopes that another scholar after I can decipher them.

Intro

This book is written to document the creation, control, and destruction of a Skr’ckv’lde. The Skr’ckv’lde is a ferocious being summoned from the elemental Plane of Fear. It is similar in many respects to a pantherghast and can be used as such. It make an effective terror weapon, and when used properly, can devastate a town or castle. Special care must be taken in making the control items as they effectively become one group magic item.

Summoning Procedure

The following describes the procedure to summon a Skr’ckv’lde. All rituals must be performed in an earth circle. The caster should carefully prepare a wrought cold iron container with latched and hinged door. Air spaces can exist in the sides of the container. As the magis is what contains the creature, the container should be soaked in a saltwater and garlic solution for three days, and anointed with virgin oil. You should then render the container indestructible to normal damage and quench it in elf blood, quickly before the blood has a chance to dry. The container should be enchanted with the ability to control elementals. Only this ritual is successful. [???] The container should be whirled three times about the caster’s head, and the caster will chant "[gibberish, sarr gibberish, but gibberish nonetheless]." Before the caster gets dizzy, the effects should be made permanent.

Once the container is prepared, the controlling items should be readied. First one must obtain a piece of headgear from the [more gibberish, but I am told it is the Sarr word for "protection," though it does not look like the sarr word for protection!]. Once this is obtained, it must be filled with blood. Then it should be enchanted so that no mortal arm may harm the wearer. It should be then bonded to the container, which needs to be done in continuance with the manufacture of the container. The headgear needs to be empowered to affect Skr’ckv’lde per the standard ritual, and all these effects should be permanenced.

I have found it useful to use a ring to protect oneself from the frightening effects of the Skr’ckv’lde, and have included a formula for making one.

First, one must cast elemental protection - I hope, the translation’s a bit light here - then the ring must be placed in the container and the caster wear the headgear [bad fashion choice] for the remaining rituals. The caster should then store the ability to resist fear, expand the enchantment and make the whole thing permanent. All while standing on one leg. [This is stupid!]

Once these items are prepared, you are ready to summon the Skr’ckv’lde. It is best to use the scroll for this, as a summon elemental scroll has a tendency to give unwanted and catastrophic results. Once the Skr’ckv’lde appears, the caster wearing the headgear should order the Skr’ckv’lde into the container and close and latch the door until needed.

Feeding

The Skr’ckv’lde must feed off of the fear of its victims. It must be fed fresh victims as after frequent contact with the Skr’ckv’lde, the fear lessens. If the Skr’ckv’lde does not feed enough from fear, it can feed off the life essence of victims.

Storage

Make sure to keep the Skr’ckv’lde in its container when not in use. Keep tightly sealed. It should be kept far away from any habitation, for even from its cage it can effect the dreams of those nearby. It has been recorded that a strong Skr’ckv’lde can even cause realistic waking visions in those nearby. It is very important that you [gibberish] the [gibberish] and make sure not to let the Skr’ckv’lde near any [gibberish].

Disposal

When you are through with the Skr’ckv’lde, simply destroy the container and it will disappear.

Translator’s notes:

It claims the original text follow, but I am having a hard time finding the untranslated words in that part. It is not a normal language. But I will keep working on it.

This thing feeds on the fears, but it must be an empty meal if it feeds on false fear, eh? It would be like trying to get drunk with water instead of a fine Rotarian wine.

I am thinking maybe all four eyes together could have controlled the creature? I tried it with one but it did not work.
